Summary[]
[Tundra Hunter] Giant Skadi, commonly known as Red Skadi, was a featured unit in the Ragnarok Special Draw (February 9, 2022, to February 22, 2022) along with Blue Ellatte. Unlike Ellatte, Skadi is a more flexible unit, capable of being useful in several types of content. She introduced a singular game strategy with her Unique, in which, unlike all other units, she benefits from the debuffs she receives by reducing the Attack and Defense of all enemies while increasing the damage dealt by her allies for each Debuff on her. Therefore, her Unique makes her a hard counter to any unit or team reliant on debuffs. If the enemy refuses to play around this mechanic by not placing debuffs on Skadi, she can put them on herself by reducing her own Max HP. Her Second Skill can remove buffs from the enemy since rank one and Cancel Stances and Buffs at rank 3. Furthermore, her Ultimate Move deals massive AOE damage and heals Skadi and her allies by 30% of the damage dealt.
Pros[]
- She’s a hard counter for enemies who rely on debuffs.
- If the enemy can’t (or refuses to) debuff her, she can debuff herself.
- She can provide a reliable source of healing with her Ultimate Move while potentially wiping out the entire team.
- Similarly, her Ultimate Move will usually fully heal her due to her first skill reducing her Max HP.
- Furthermore, she can be helpful in other types of content apart from PVP, such as Final Bosses, Demonic Beast Battles, Hero Arena, etc.
Cons[]
- Enemies with Ruin can neglect her strategy by removing all debuffs on her and dealing additional damage per each. Also, units with Co-destruction, Weak Point or Resonance can deal massive damage to her thanks to the debuffs.
- Enemies can limit themselves not to debuff her.
- In this case, she becomes highly dependent on RNG, which can make her a risky pick.
- She has been in few banners, which makes her dupes scarce.
- Her Unique does not work in Death Match
Gear Recommendation[]
Skadi is an extraordinarily flexible unit which can allow many different builds. Her preferred build is HP/Defense to maximize her HP pool (which will get reduced by one of her skills). However, Skadi can successfully use Attack/Defense and Attack/Crit Damage for PVE to increase her chances of dealing significant damage.
Equipment Set[]
- HP (Life) / Iron Wall (Defense)
Substats[]
- Bracer / Ring: Attack
- Necklace / Earrings: Defense
- Belt / Rune: HP
Usage[]
Skadi is a decent choice for any content, but she shines in PVE, where the AI will attack without restraint.
PVE[]
Skadi is an excellent choice for PVE, especially for Eikthyrnir and Skoll and Hati (and a little in Nidhoggr in floors 1 and 2), being able to help to speedrun Skoll and Hati in a specific team. She’s powerful in Skoll and Hati because Skoll continuously places Ignite debuffs on her and her team, strengthening her over time. Remember that if you reach a certain threshold of debuffs, your units will receive a Corrossion debuff. On the other hand, in Nidhoggr, even if the boss focuses on placing many debuffs fast, Skadi (or her teammates) could be killed by the damage per second, so your units should be strong enough to withstand the continuous attacks, bringing a healer (or a unit that can deal enough damage fast) proves instrumental.
She is not recommended for Death Match as her unique does not work there.
PVP[]
On the other hand, on PVP, she’s good against teams that include units that focus on placing debuffs on the enemy, such as Green Last Philosopher Merlin, Green Sariel, Green “Assault Mode” Meliodas, Red Kyo or Light Transcendent Ban. If you use Skadi, avoid using any units with a Remove Debuffs effect since it will open you up for a counter-offensive.
Overall, Red Skadi is a strong, flexible unit whose use extends to almost all areas of the game, making her a highly desirable hero for your roster.
