Hero Guide

[Chivalrous] Holy Knight Gilthunder, also known as Green Gilthunder, is easily one of the best SR Heroes.  This is because his skill set has a lot of versatility, and while his skills are not as impactful as the SSR Heroes, as an SR Hero he is much easier to max out his Ultimate Move than compared to an SSR Hero with comparable skills.  Thus, he is a good Hero to prioritize in the early game.

Pros

  • Good for Gray Demon and Howlex
  • Increases attack of all allies
  • Versatile and cheap to max out (can buy dupes in Coin Shop)
  • One of the best SR Heroes available

Cons

  • Not great for PvE farming
  • Not as good as SSR Heroes
  • Ultimate Move deals attack to only one enemy

Skill Review

Green Gilthunder’s attack skill, “Lightning”, inflicts Rupture damage equal to a percentage of Attack on all enemies.  Rupture deals 2x damage against Buffed enemies, so this AoE attack is good for PvP and Death Matches when the enemy has an active buff.

More importantly, Green Gilthunder’s buff skill, “Lightning Power”, is what makes him the most useful and versatile.  This skill increases the Attack of all his allies by a certain percentage for two to three turns.  Rank 1 of the skill increases Attack of all allies by 30% for two turns, Rank 2 increases to 40% for two turns, and Rank 3 maxes out at 60% for three turns.

Green Gilthunder’s Ultimate Move, “Lightning King Decapitation”, inflicts damage up to a maximum of 840% on one enemy.  Additionally, it applies a Shock debuff to that enemy, which deals additional damage equal to 30% of damage dealt at the end of every turn.

Green Gilthunder’s Unique ability, “The Lightning King’s Magic”, increases allies’ Defense-related stats by 30% in PvP.  This Unique ability is passive, which makes him a top pick for a sub-slot Hero in PvP.

Usage

PvP - Green Gilthunder has some usefulness in normal (ungeared) PvP.  He can still be useful in elite (geared) PvP, although less so than ungeared PvP.  His primary usefulness with relation to PvP is from the sub-slot since his Unique ability is passive and increases the Defense-related stats of all allies in PvP without requiring him to be in combat.

SP Dungeon and PvE Farming - Though Green Gilthunder has an AoE skill and a skill for his allies, he is not as good at PvE farming as many other options.  PvE farming is not a recommended use for Green Gilthunder.

Death Matches - Green Gilthunder has little benefit in battling the Red Demon, but his skill set is very helpful for fighting the Gray Demon and the Crimson Demon.  This is because his buff is used to boost your team’s attack, as he provides the highest attack buff in-game.  He works hand-in-hand with Red Gowther to easily rank up his buff to level 3.  Using Green Gilthunder for the Death Matches maximize buff effects for combat.

Back in the old days, Gilthunder was friends with Howzer, Veronica Liones, and Elizabeth Liones, who used to all play together. At some point in time, Meliodas taught Gilthunder the fundamentals of swordsmanship and "The Way of the Knight".
