Boss Strategy[]

Due to the required characters to bring along to the fight, that being King, Merlin, and Ban, you are basically required to utilize a team with [The Seven Deadly Sins]. As such, the best Ban to use is Light Transcendent Ban, Blue Fairy King Harlequin, and Green Merlin as a sub-slot unit. In terms of the frontline, the extra unit to bring would be Dark Purgatory Meliodas. It is recommended to put Red Tarmiel as an Association link for Meliodas.

When starting the battle, you want to make sure to only attack with Meliodas when his Unique Ability Buff is active. Otherwise, hold his skills until then. Attack once with King and then follow it up with some attacks from Ban. This is so you can activate the heal the boss gains when falling under 50% HP. It’s better to activate it early on and get it out of the way. The main reason you don’t want to attack with Meliodas is because you want his Buff to activate after all three of the Demon King’s attacks, so all stat-lowering Debuffs and Infect are guaranteed to be removed.

Regardless, eventually Ban and King will die. This is totally normal and Merlin will likely die as well. However, Meliodas can survive just fine on his own. Due to Red Tarmiel’s healing and Meliodas’ excellent lifesteal, you can basically fully heal every turn and just whittle the boss down until he dies. This strategy works even if you go second in the battle.

Unfortunately, the three required characters have extremely limited options. Here are some explanations on why these units are so necessary.

  • Light Transcendent Ban
    • This is practically the only usable Ban in this fight. For one, the Demon King boss is of the Strength (Red) attribute. That immediately disqualifies any Green attribute Ban unit and many of them are extremely old and outdated. Of the three “modern” Ban units, Red Ragnarok Ban is a support unit made for the Sub-slot, and Red Purgatory Ban requires a specialized team to function properly and that team can not be used due to the restrictions in place. Therefore, Light Transcendent Ban is the only viable option.
  • Blue Fairy King Harlequin
    • Similar to Ban, King suffers from a roster of outdated units. Due to the protection and damage increase Blue Fairy King Harlequin offers, there really is no other choice as again, the other “modern” King unit requires a very specific team that would not work here.
  • Green Merlin
    • Once again, Merlin also has many outdated units. Green Last Philosopher Merlin requires certain teams to work and relies on Debuffs, making her a poor choice as the boss removes them all every turn. Blue Summer Merlin’s value is in her attack sealing which can not be used on the boss. Green Festival Merlin has type disadvantage, meaning she would be killed extremely quickly and her Infect card won’t do well here. Therefore, Green Merlin at the very least can remove Ultimate Move Gauge if she ends up coming to the frontline (which is likely with this team).
  • Dark Purgatory Meliodas
    • The reason this Meliodas unit is so effective is because he can not only deal exceptional damage to the boss with his Unique ability activated, but also because he can cleanse all Debuffs while doing so. Due to the boss inflicting Infect upon the team every turn, this is essential in staying alive.
